We're not trading with Toronto. Vuc wants to stay in Chicago. Kat is too damn soft and Jimmy already thinks he's not a winner. Kuz meh. Not a difference maker.
Ujiri is difficult and I don't think Riley was too happy during that deal. If Riley did it would be for Siakam and not Van Vleet. I just don't think that happens.
The Heat are in an awful spot, which is why they are willing to wait for Dame. Also, just because we as fans want guys from certain teams those teams need to get something in return. For example, a move I would like if they can't get Dame is see if those Myles Turner to Lakers talk was real. Why would the Pacers contemplate that? What would they want? Do the Heat have what they want? But this illustrates my point. Wanting a player is one thing. So many other parts need to match up.
There are a lot of better overall options without gutting the team and giving up the future. While Miami waits for Dame, players who would have liked to play in Miami with Bam, Butler and Herro while being coached by Spo are going to look elsewhere.
it's a good thing there is someone around here that cares about that stuff. I have a general idea about how the salary cap works, but otherwise I couldn't care less if i tried
If Miami does trade for Dame, I can see having to give up players such as Herro, Martin, Highsmith, Jovic plus draft picks.
I have a feeling Yurt is going to OKC, Houston, San Antonio or a rebuilding team where he will have a chance to start and grow and develop with a younger group of players. Same with Vincent and Strus.
I don't think Pat wants to overpay for anyone not named Dame.
That would leave Heat stuck with Lowry, old guys on minimum salaries and G Leaguers. If Bam, Butler or Dame go down, you are looking at a lottery team, maybe for the next several years. NOT GOOD!
I dont think portland will have a big interest in tyler. They're drowning in young talented guards. And if dame does what he should have done already and force his way here and their fo does right by him for the decade he put in, the asking price go even further down. We know they don't have a lot of leverage cause they started talks asking for bam
3 days away from free agency beginning for real. If Lillard hasn’t made his mind up and/or the asking price is too outrageous, I hope the Heat moves on. Whether it be players like Lopez, Kuzma, VanVleet, LaVine, Valenciunas, Hunter, Murray, Williams, Vuc, etc. There’s a lot of players out there that can shore up this already solid team.
Stretching Lowry is like buying cheap furniture on a 3 year credit plan. By the second year, the furniture looks like crap and you’re still paying for it for another year. No thanks! I think it’s a terrible idea. I’d rather keep him and let this bad contract expire, though I actually believe he’ll be part of a trade.
Lowry has been here two years. The first year they were the #1 seed and made game-7 of the ECF. The second year they went to The Finals.
Does that mean I think they should keep him? No. But I think calling it a miss is like calling UD a wasted roster spot. Fans only see what they players do on the court during a game. But a smart organization knows there is more that goes into winning.
I think it's much more likely fans are missing something, and Lowry contributed a lot to this team. Just not enough to warrant the percentage of the salary cap he takes up.
Your last line sums it up perfectly. I wasn’t against signing Lowry. I was against paying him (imo) about twice as much as he was worth at that point of his career. Had they signed him for $10-15 million per year max, I would’ve been fine with it and we wouldn’t be in this situation now. He’d be very tradable at this point.
The Heat needs at least a third piece to add to Jimmy and Bam, if not also a fourth piece. Damian Lillard would be that third piece. The question is who do you trade. Tyler Herro should not be a trade option. Kyle is a legend who orchestrated many of the Heat's offensive moves in the 22-23 season. His playoff performance was not up to standard, but so were a few others. Trade is a hard call, but Lillard is much needed, however it can be realized. Good luck to Riley and Spo in this matter. It's the down side of the business of basketball.
I'm hoping they can attach a first round pick to that contract and do a sign-and-trade with a team like Washington for Kuzma or Brooklyn for Cam Johnson
My dream scenario...
1. We get Dame by giving up Lowry and Dunc (as I said, it's a dream)
2. We run it back with some good addition of bigs and we return to that magical shooting season that made us #1
3. Play in team and goes all the way again lol.
All these fantasy scenarios will make other fans hate us more haha
its ok to dream, port would never do that, if they did they might as well move from portland
I wonder what the trade value for Lillard actually is with what the new CBA does.
The player is probably worth what folk have thrown out there. The contract just is not.
lowry robinson thats about 45.2 bad contracts.lillards worth it
Lol. If Pat can make that happen that'll be one great heist but no one will bite that.
dames a diva. get van fleet and vuc kat or kuz.
We're not trading with Toronto. Vuc wants to stay in Chicago. Kat is too damn soft and Jimmy already thinks he's not a winner. Kuz meh. Not a difference maker.
Besides, Kuz used to date Taylor's girl, I don't think the could coexist.
And why aren’t we trading with Toronto? I wish they’d let Lowry retire there.
Ujiri is difficult and I don't think Riley was too happy during that deal. If Riley did it would be for Siakam and not Van Vleet. I just don't think that happens.
Okay…so, what do you think would be a good move?
The Heat are in an awful spot, which is why they are willing to wait for Dame. Also, just because we as fans want guys from certain teams those teams need to get something in return. zach can we just sign van fleet w/o giving up anybody how would that work
It wouldn't. Glad I could help
zach knows the restricted unrestricted fa cba rules like nobody else
it's a good thing there is someone around here that cares about that stuff. I have a general idea about how the salary cap works, but otherwise I couldn't care less if i tried
me 2 too confusing except for zach.hes our salary capologist

u can say that about any team sun man.if they stay healthy then what look it that way
I disagree. Just look at Heat season 2022-2023 without top 3 player Herro and defensive player Oladipo.

once upon a time he was good heat got him he suked .another riley miss
Blame Butler for the acquisition. Blame Riley for agreeing to pay him an amount no other team would have considered.

team chemistry def a plus.guess they like playing with turtles

Heat would have done better keeping Dragic and Precious and using the money saved to acquire a starting two-way big.
It would be nice if Precious was still around. Him and Bam would make a nice frontcourt of switchable bigs that can still hustle and rebound
he was really good in tor rc i was for signing him.not sure what happened$$$
true keep jim happy

kyle a legend maybe in your mind.mine a turtle
HOPE NOT

Can’t do sign and trades in the new CBA. Very difficult. It greatly restrict the ability to fill out the roster.
Well, there are still three days before the new CBA kicks in.
