Gabe is definitely due to make some good money, and he deserves because he came long way, hopefully we can find to keep not a lot of pg out there with 3 level scoring and good scrappy defense. His game has shades of Lowery, Brunson, van fleet.
After so many criticisms to this dude, Spo and his staff (and Pat) trusted him. Now we are all enjoying Heat's journey to the promise land thanks in large part to Gabe. Hope this keeps up and translates to 3 more wins.
Gabe's worked hard and he's going to make a lot of money this off season. He went from a rarely used hustle player, to a key back-up last season, to a vital starter this year. I believe he's 3rd in +/- on Miami this post season behind Caleb and Bam.
What about Mr Kotter? Gabe Kaplan. He used to do standup in the 60's on Miami Beach at the Janina Hotel, a two story building thats probably not there anymore at 71st and Collins.
From a recent SS column discussing upcoming free agents with Bobby Marks and an NBA scout (under no circumstances at this point would Vincent bring you more assets in a trade than Herro):
Gabe Vincent: Earning an NBA-minimum $1.8 million this season, Vincent emerged as a full-time starter when Kyle Lowry was sidelined in February by knee soreness.
Now, amid a solid postseason that included 19 points, with 5-of-10 3-point shooting, in Game 1 against the Nuggets, the price point has escalated.
“If you asked me back in February, I would have said, ‘Hey, probably part of the mid-level,’ ” ESPN analyst and former Brooklyn Nets executive Bobby Marks told the Sun Sentinel this past week. “I think Gabe can now get the full mid-level somewhere, which is $12.2 million.
“I mean, you go down the list of teams that need point guards, I think he’s the third best point guard on the board behind Kyrie [Irving] and I guess you could put [James] Harden up there. I think he’s shown his toughness; he can make big shots in big games. He could fit off the bench. He could start for you.”
A veteran NBA scout, not at liberty by league rule to publicly discuss impending free agents still under contract, agreed.
“The full mid-level? That’s in the ballpark,” the scout told the Sun Sentinel. “He’s had a very good run. I think he’s a backup; I cannot get to him as a starter.
“But you know what? That’s what quality backups are getting in this league, the full mid-level. He’s a combo guard in the best sense of the word.”
Herro is a SG/Combo Guard who is a scorer with a limited defensive game. He reminds me of a younger Devin Booker, who decided to focus on improving his defenseive game after Chris Paul arrived in Phoenix. Booker's defense has improved considerably. He was named to the All-NBA team in 2022.
The best case scenario for Herro and Miami is if he decides to become a student of the "Game of Defense" and transforms himself into a legitimate two-way all-star. He has the athleticism, height etc., to do it. He just needs the will. Otherwise, I can see trading him for one or more players whose style(s) are more compatible with "Heat Culture."
Has more to do with desire than bulk. He has the athleticism and can add bulk. If he commits to playing defense I would keep him. If he does not, I would trade him for a good two-way starting PG, SG, PF or C.
Gabe has come a long, long way. I see him as a very valuable rotation player as a back-up point or combo guard or as a starter in a pinch. He is not consistent enough to be considered a full-time starter or to command full-time/starter money. I hope he and the Heat can reach a mutually satisfactory agreement. He definitely fits the culture. The same goes for Strus. Obviously, there will need to be trades made this summer to accommodate keeping both players. That discussion is for another day.
Meanwhile, I'm attaching an article about the team I thought you might all find interesting. I found this statistic very interesting:
When facing a deficit of at least 12 points this postseason:
Gabe is definitely due to make some good money, and he deserves because he came long way, hopefully we can find to keep not a lot of pg out there with 3 level scoring and good scrappy defense. His game has shades of Lowery, Brunson, van fleet.
Keep both. Trade either one of them, you'll live to regret it.

glad jimmy got extra day off we need milw jimmy.counting on role players to deliver night after night is not the way to go .
another 2 days off. yep, soooo good for jimmy. but not gonna complain if "role players" do it for us also and produce 3 more wins.

Nnamdi!!!
Gabe is a class act. If only Tyler could get back into the mix to add more to the offense.
Right now I believe we need defense not offense. Let Tyler heal up for next year unless we get desperate in an elimination game.
I would give Highsmith minutes before Tyler.
Is he the best "Gabe" in all of professional sports?
gabe kapler??
What about Mr Kotter? Gabe Kaplan. He used to do standup in the 60's on Miami Beach at the Janina Hotel, a two story building thats probably not there anymore at 71st and Collins.
gabe kaplan not an athlete
I know. Just wanted to show his Miami roots. Unless poker is a sport.
welcome back kotter great show, amercias first look at jon travolta(barbarino).dont make shows like that anymore.
Is this version of Gabe Vincent what we hope Herro is/becomes, and/or what Herro already is/does?
think ty n gabe pretty much similar type players.heat prob have to choose one or the other or trade one and get something
Has Gabe done enough this postseason that he'd get more in a trade than Herro?
yes j has been consistent pretty much all playoffs.ty just shoots so much w/o looking id say his fg% is43 and 3s is 33%
If you looked it up, you’d find that you were close and not close.
Regular season 44%, 38% 3p, 94% ft.
Last 10 games 47%, 40% 3p, 100% ft.

I think Gabe has made it a conversation, maybe not too hard of a question. I think I'm still taking Tyler. Would love to have em both.
But I digress on the trade talk it's all about getting to 4!

herro just doesnt have the bulk to be a 2 way player/think he gets dealt

Great write up!
He definitely made up his subpar performance in the 1st half of the game2 with a superlative Kyrie like performance in the 2nd half of game 2.
