Kevin Love has re-signed on a two-year deal with the Miami Heat, Associated Press NBA reporter Tim Reynolds was first with the news Friday.
The first year of Love’s deal, using his non-bird rights, will be worth $3.7 million, with a second year being a player option, according to Ira Winderman of South Florida Sun Sentinel.
His two-year deal will be worth a total of $7.7 million.
Love joined Miami in late February after being bought out by the Cleveland Cavaliers, signing Miami’s prorated $3.1 biannual exception. In 21 regular season games, he averaged 7.7 points and 5.7 rebounds in 20.0 minutes per game, shooting 38.8 percent and 29.7 from distance.
Though Love was much more efficient from 3-point range in the postseason, where he shot 37.5 percent on 4.4 triple tries. He averaged 6.9 points and 5.6 boards in 18.0 minutes per contest.
Love, 34, was widely viewed as a very good locker room presence for the Heat. He was a good outlet passer, matched size against bigger lineups and was an impactful rebounder.
Welcome back, Kevin!
This is a breaking news story. Stay tuned for updates.
Meh. He was a great player. He did a few nice things, took a few charges, made some outlet passes, but he did not shoot the three for a high percentage, and he was targeted on d. Someone has to say it as let's get real. This rah rah enthusiasm that is the standard on this thread, I understand why, but it can get disingenuous. I have to give my honest feelings. Richardson and Love don't move the needle much. Lot of work needed.
Considering that Portland resigned Grant, it looks like more and more that Dame is staying there
