Give me Peterson. He passes excellently, he is not selfish with the ball, defends firmly, moves off the ball to get open and not hesitant to shoot the 3. With some coaching he will be a very good player at shooting the 3s and defensive player.
Joe Cronin: "What I will say about Shaedon, Scoot and Anfernee is that they're going to be 'win-now' players very, very soon."
Blazers GM Joe Cronin was asked if he has spoken to Damian Lillard since the trade request. “No.”
"In any deal, the goal is to come out with the best outcome. It could be more of a win-now player. It could be a young player and picks. It could be just picks. There's no set parameters."
"I can see why Dame would look at it and see why this isn't a win-now opportunity. From that standpoint, I understand it and respect it."
"Dame's obviously a very important person and player to us. What the rest of his career looks like matters to us... At the same time, we have to do what is best for us."
"Building around Dame has always been the goal, even through the draft. The difficulty we ran into was finding the right deals. We kept scouring the market looking for more win-now players, and those players just weren't available."
Cronin declines to comment on whether he has had contact with the Heat.
Cronin says he has not spoken to Damian Lillard since the trade request and there has not been any meaningful movement on trade talks.
yeah he basically admitted he screwed up building around Dame, and made it pretty obvious he doesn't have any other trades lined up besides Miami.
Scoot is too good for them to let this drag into training camp. I think the Blazers need to trade Dame and clear the runway for the Scoot era, whether that means trading Dame to Miami or elsewhere. But they've already screwed up so many different ways, I wouldn't be shocked if they start the Scoot era under this black cloud
But but but I thought nobody wanted Tyler!?!?!?! ;)
Evan Sidery: There are multiple teams interested in trading a first-round pick for Tyler Herro to help facilitate Damian Lillard ending up on the Heat, per @ShamsCharania on @PatMcAfeeShow. The Nets and Spurs have previously been linked to Herro in potential trade discussions. – via Twitter esidery
I know. Things are still undecided, but you can't help but feel a little optimistic again as this up and down process unfolds. Maybe Tyler's beefed up physique has impressed some suitors.
The person who its all on is the master, Pat Riley. He is so steady, so not prone to over-reaction, And its all on the line for his last big hurrah. And I am sure it means a lot to him as this is what being a GM is all about, dealing with all the nuances, the multiple teams, the media, and the players. This is his moment to shine or have it all go up in smoke. I think he's going to prevail..
If the Blazers were smart they would try to keep Tyler and flip Simons. But I don't think they can do that after bashing Tyler in the press, and I don't know that smart teams like the Spurs and Nets are interested in Simons when they know they can have Herro instead
Uh, nobody ever accused Allen or Cronin of that. They F'd up and tried to throw Dame under the bus to cover their tracks. I really feel for poor Blazer fans who are being put through all this drama. They've been through enough crap. They deserve better. She should sell. She's the real loser, not the fans!
Orlando, Jovic,JJJ and maybe Cain for now. The PGs still need to work harder, getting everyone on the floor involved and creating shots for them selves.
The Heat need Guard depth. They just lost Strus, Vicent, and Oladipo. If they trade Herro and Lowry for Dame, that's literally every guard gone from last year's roster.
I disagree. I am hoping Cain gets a regular contract. I’m surprised that hasn’t happened yet. Perhaps after the Lillard debacle. I actually thought he’d be signed first and Robinson second, but I wanted both signed.
I agree about Cain getting a regular contract. However, that wasn't the question. I just want the Heat to get him under contract (of any kind) before another team swoops in and steals him away.
Yes, I agree he must be under contract. His value is obvious and I’d be disappointed if they let him get away. I do think he’ll get the regular contract, and, as such, my candidates for a 2-way would be Audige, Peterson, with long shots Gardner or Funk. I think the latter 2 will be on the Skyforce. I also think it’s very possible, as happened in the past, that we poach someone from another team.
If we poach a player i would want it to be devoe from the trailblazers. He's pg with 3pt shooting ability. He almost went for 30 against the wemby spurs, and he did that with Sharpe playing bad, and scoot being hurt. Not to mention he got 5 assists, while being the main scorer and the d wasn't to shabby. Also since trailblazers are trying to gut us, it would be fitting snatching one of there players away .
There appears to be quite a bit of unsigned talent in the summer league. Celtics have a couple too. JD Davidson just signed two-way with Celtics today.
After the whole Lillard fiasco is over, I sure would like to see Miami trade with Detroit for a couple of expiring contracts (maybe Stewart and maybe Hayes).

It's gonna take more than a first round draft pick. This ain't the Godfather's first rodeo.
I guess other teams dealing with Pat are very careful of his "ways" making it a little difficult

Yeah it's pretty toxic on Blazers Edge these days.

Cain, hands down.

Oh yes I forgot about Davidson, he's a pure pass first pg, he had 10 assists against us, and you right their is a decent talent in the summer league.

There’s still some nice options out there. I’m hoping the Lillard deal, one way or the other, is done this week.
The fact that there are no rumors coming out about new teams being involved in the Lillard Sweepstakes is a good sign
I think it will be this week.... market is on hold right now... or something will happen with Harden...
Thumbs up
