I believe we would be better and fun to watch with Lillard. But if we gave up Herro, Martin, Jovic, Jaquez, and 3-4 first round picks, I’m not sure how much better we’d be this season with fewer bench options. And the future, with onerous contracts limiting acquisitions, and with few draft picks, would be pretty bleak.
I’d be okay with Herro, one of Jovic and Jaquez, maybe Martin (because his current value is high), and 2 first round picks. That, to me, is fair. If Portland doesn’t think so, find another suitor who is willing to pay $60 million each of those last 2 years.
Giving up the team's future for Dame, is like putting all your eggs in one (Riley final hoorah) basket. If there is some way to get Rozier and keep Herro, I could go for that. Maybe DRobinson, Jovic and a first rounder? That would give the Heat four 20ppg scorers plus Bryant or Robinson, who can both spread the floor.
NOTE: BRYANT'S 2022-2023 STATS ARE BASED ON ONLY 21.3 MPG!!! IF YOU PROJECT HIS STATS OVER 33 MINUTES, IT WOULD ADD ANOTHER 6 POINTS AND 3-4 RPG. HOW DOES 18 PPG AND 10 RPG SOUND?
We're deep into the offseason if people are bringing up some random regular season 2-guard and saying he's better than D-Wade. I feel bad for Devin Booker. Seems like a nice guy, I hate to see him follow in the footsteps of Russel Westbrook and James Harden
The longer this goes on, the more confident I feel that Cronin is waiting for football season to start so he can make this trade in silence. He know he's backed into a corner. Everyone is watching. He has literally zero motivation to fold right now. Everyone will roast him for it.
But if we wait until a weekend in September when Alabama is playing against USC and the Cheifs are playing against the 49ers, Cronin can quietly trade Dame for 2 picks, Jovic, and Tyler Herro and it will be two days worth of news at most.
Patience is a virtue. The first GM who blinks...loses. Still over two months of summer vacation to go before training camp officially opens on Sept. 27. Time to chill and let the process take it's course. I'm sure the Godfather has a Plan B, C & D if the Lillard trade doesn't go through.
rc did u watch book in the playoffs 40pts a game almost every game besides joker prob second best player in playoffs last year 28 pts shot almost 50%.he is the new wade.current team w/o dame can not win it all.with dame 50 50 chance.dame would be our # 1 option we have to get him,we can not win it all w/o dame.a good team yes w/o dame a champ team no
Bro you also believed Heat can't make the Finals much less the ECF last season. We could have been a healthy Tyler short of the 4th Heat banner. I know not many will believe that but we will never know. We want stars in our team of course but until one lands in South Beach, Heat will keep grinding shoving that 3% chance down anyone's a** who doubts them.
based on reg season yes .also helped greek banged up tatum out 7 th game i believe ty being out helped us hes a one dimensional player shoots alot 43% play awful awful d. not competitive vs denver .need a true center and pg to compete with denver lakers gsw and suns
I think it’s pathetic for someone on a Heat site to suggest Booker is as good as the best Heat player EVER! Do you realize that if Booker plays for 10 more years (not a lot of players play 18 years), HE’D HAVE TO BE VOTED AN ALL STAR EVERY YEAR JUST TO TIE WADE?!?! Wade is the best shot blocking guard in history with 885 in regular season, 175 in the playoffs. Second place for both was Michael Jordan! Booker has blocked 146 in his career. Wade is 8 time all NBA. Wade is 3 time All Defensive Team.
Booker is a great scorer. THAT’S ALL HE HAS PROVEN SO FAR. There is absolutely no comparison between the two! You have very short term vision. There isn’t another reasonable (non troll) person who has any NBA knowledge that could prove they are equal.
On your other point, gut our entire team (as you’ve said, “trade anyone not named Bam or Butler”) and there is still no guarantee that the Heat will win it all. And you will be the biggest loud mouth complainer in 2 years about what a horrible, untradeable contract we’re stuck with, and how we have no young, athletic players.
Don't forget Wade is the 3rd best sg of all time behind Jordan and kobe. He did that being a poor 3pt shooter, that fact alone should shut him up. Wade is just way better this shouldn't even be a discussion.
And you will be the biggest loud mouth complainer in 2 years about what a horrible, untradeable contract we’re stuck with, and how we have no young, athletic players.r u and 2qbn related.jimmy has 2 -3 year window.u can build an nba team in an off season we did .ill take one superstar rather than 2-3 good to avg players
For me it’s simple. I’d love seeing Lillard in a Heat uniform. It’d be fun. But I want the deal to be fair. That means Portland gets a nice - not Gobert level - return of players and picks. It is being widely discussed that teams are concerned about the cost of those last 2 Lillard contract years. Portland is in a weak negotiating position. I want Riley to be firm an what we will and will not give up to take Lillard.
I think so too, but you’ll still have at least 1 year, maybe 2, of two onerous contracts. And if we’ve traded young players who would be entering their prime AND if we have few remaining draft picks, it may be a lean 3-5 years.
hes heading in that direction look at his #s.28pts 50%.come on dwade an all timer bookers gonna go down like that similar #s to wade.criticize me in 6 - 8 years now he has help so he can get some jewelry
He can’t get close to what Wade has accomplished in 6-8 years in terms of being an all star and it’s unlikely that he’s going to make many all defensive teams. It’s not close. In 6-8 years? LOL! Who knows what will be in 6-8 years?
So he was as good as Wade was in one playoffs in one season. I wouldn’t argue against that. He’s one of the better young players in the league right now. I wouldn’t disagree with that either. But you’re trying to compare their careers when, at this point, there is no comparison. It’s not about bias, it’s about the facts, and I’ve provided black and white facts devoid of my, or anyone’s, opinion.
Yup. He had his 15 minutes of fame, unless he can develop into a good rotation player or maybe a starter in the future. I like him but ORob is further along at a younger age.
Rockets forward Cam Whitmore has been named Las Vegas Summer League Most Valuable Player, the NBA announced (via Twitter). The NBA also announced its All-Summer League First and Second Teams, which are as follows:

Its a big jump from Summer league to the NBA, but Robinson certainly as a chance to be a valuable player.

Then maybe one more peripheral move (maybe trade one of our last two draft choices?) and lets see how we do with what we have and the players we already brought in.
Its not Dame or die anymore, we have other options, and that's a good thing.
Ain't that the truth. I keep reading about how the team that spent has gone to the Finals twice and the ECF 3 times in the past 4 years is f'd because they lost two g-league players
Whatever you smoking let me get some of that. It's ridiculous saying that we're fucked without dame when we've made it to finals repeatedly without him. With him we will the top seed in the east, and without him we still be top 2 or 3. You're such a negative Nancy lol.
You maligned Vincent and Strus on a regular basis. They’re gone now. Zeller is gone. You clamored for bigger, more athletic players. With Herro back, Duncan shooting better (certainly as good as Strus), Jovic actually available, Jaime, Cain (likely), Bryant, O Robinson, Richardson, this is a better balanced team than last season. We’re definitely not fkd if we don’t get Lillard.
i like the youngens cain hh orob .u have to be a two way player to play for hfl .one way players are becoming extinct unless their name ends in ic.lol always want the best for my beloved team.gabe and strus were nice stories but avg players at best.zeller was a big stiff.liked yert but spo didnt
The Phoenix Suns continued their productive offseason Sunday by agreeing to a one-year deal with free agent forward Bol Bol.for the bol bol hhh dude sorry..btw frank vogel will be a very good coach this year rc
Never said he wasn’t a good coach. Coaching is about developing, behind the scenes stuff, strategy, and play calling. In other words, it counts. Is Spo perfect? No. One of the best based on results (you know, like Jackson, Riley, Pop)? Yes. Future Hall of Famer? Yup.
It's starting to look like Jovic and Jaquez will be traded. I'm fine with that as long as we keep Herro and Robinson. Miami doesn't need to gut their roster. Let Dame play hardball with Portland. 2 players + 2 draft picks. That's more than fair. If not, prepare for Lillard to sit out.
I'll go the extra mile and say bye-bye Cronin, take it or leave it.Good luck to you, we tried to help you but you got greedy listening to the talking heads and "league sources".
No doubt! Cronin is trying so hard to pump his chest out and act as if he's in complete control. Lillard can easily disrupt that. The fact is Dame is 33 and not worth a king's ransom anymore. His agent has already came out publicly and told Boston, Philly (who aren't interested in dealing Maxey), Brooklyn and New York that he only wants Miami. They don't want a disgruntled player.
Thats how I feel too. Cronin made his point, played some hardball, held out for his best deal, but no more is coming. If the deal falls thru, its for the best if we have to give up too much. We all just have to wait now, let it play out.
Agreed. Cronin knows he has zero leverage especially if Dame decides to make this messy by sitting out and creating a PR firestorm. Pat should stand tough and tell him to take a hike. If Cronin wants to proceed forward, then it should be on our terms.
I wish we could, but I don’t see how. There has to be salary going out, so it seems a combination of 2 or 3 of Herro, Duncan, and Lowry salaries must be moved.
Hmmmm, Lowry will be the hardest to move. Herro and Duncan will be far easier. In this scenario, I'd give up Herro, Robinson and Jovic and send two draft picks. That should be the absolute limit.
i really love how the Heat system goes. they played 9 players per game in these summer league approaching it as a "regular game" in terms of playing time, juggling of players...etc. that will be of good experience for these young guns for a "feel" of the real game. maybe other teams are drooling of ORob now hehe, they want him included in "the package" lol
Orlando finished with 27pts ,9 reb, 6 assists, 3 stl, 1 block. He went 2 -5 from beyond the arc, stuffing the Stat sheet with +24 also...for those wondering .
Excuse TF out of me, buuuuuut, if Miami gives up Jovic and Jaquez PLUS 3-4 first round picks, (plus Caleb or ?), isn't that like giving up 5-6 first round picks for a 33 year old who can't play one single lick of defense? Riley cannot possibly be that STUPID!!! I understand wanting to win it all, but Miami cannot take a gamble on sacrificing the next 5-6 years, or longer, for a shot at a title. FTS!
Eh, the guy who wrote that looks like he may start shaving in a year or two, right after graduating high school.
We’re the only game in town at the moment. It’s been clear that, despite what Portland and their fans believe, teams are hesitant to pay a guy $60 million at 37 years old. The Heat will be a very good team, despite what a few people here think, with or without Lillard.
I’m talking about the philosophy of gutting potential young players for a single player that can help you get over the top.
We were all upset when we gave up Caron Butler and Odom. They would have been awesome as Wade got better. But at the end of the day there was no guarantee of a title with that core. I’m retrospect, you make the trade that gets you the title.
Miami Heat Open Up With Third-Best Odds To Win Eastern Conference (without Damian Lillard) https://www.si.com/nba/heat/miami-news/miami-heat-open-up-with-third-best-odds-to-win-eastern-conference

bookers a phenomenal player phenomenal
Last season 28/5/6, 86% ft%, 35% 3p% (but Duncan needs to be at 45% lol! The best Booker has been in regular season is 38%).
Career- 24/4/5, 87% ft%, 36% 3p%.
Excellent young player? Absolutely! Equal to Wade? Hell no!
he doesnt shoot alot of 3s rc either did wade.think wades 3pt % was under 30
Wade improved over time, but was an overall poor 3 point shooter. That certainly wasn’t why he was great.
give credit where credit is due.man your so heat bias
Unless you have a reading disability, I just did give him credit.
similar to wade w/o jewelry .wade was a great great player book is also .did u watch the suns in the playoffs.he was dwade dallas good

Herro in 3-4 years, if he takes defense seriously.
no way hes a good offensive player but never reach booker status.28 pts 50% shooting never for ty
Bingo! Likewise, Booker will never reach Wade status.
Yurt to Utah to be their 3rd center.
sad news sarcastic one
I think the Heat missed the boat on that one. Time will tell. Ainge is a shrewd scavenger.
orob looks good so i dont feel as bad sun man.but yurt when he played that month or so when bam was hurt looked very good
Yup. He had his 15 minutes of fame, unless he can develop into a good rotation player or maybe a starter in the future. I like him but ORob is further along at a younger age.
2 years, $2.8 million.
Rockets forward Cam Whitmore has been named Las Vegas Summer League Most Valuable Player, the NBA announced (via Twitter). The NBA also announced its All-Summer League First and Second Teams, which are as follows:
First Team
Keyonte George, Jazz (Backcourt)
Sam Merrill, Cavaliers (Backcourt)
Orlando Robinson, Heat (Frontcourt)
Hunter Tyson, Nuggets (Frontcourt)
Cam Whitmore, Rockets (Frontcourt)
Second Team
Max Christie, Lakers (Backcourt)
Javon Freeman-Liberty, Bulls (Backcourt)
Xavier Moon, Clippers (Backcourt)
Emoni Bates, Cavaliers (Frontcourt)
Jabari Smith, Rockets (Frontcourt)
Jalen Wilson, Nets (Frontcourt)
Funny how Orlando Robinson has come along at a time when we needed him most. Whether realistic or no, suddenly our prospects without Dame don't seem as dire, which is an important posiion to be in when negotiating. Its a big jump from Summer league to the NBA, but Robinson certainly as a chance to be a valuable player.

Rozier plus filler for Herro. https://www.espn.com/nba/player/_/id/3074752/terry-rozier
Rozier, Butler, Martin, Bam, Bryant
Plus plenty of trade assets: Lowry, Richardson, DRobinson, ORobinson, Love, Jaquez, Jovic, Highsmith, Cain, Charlotte filler.
OR keep Herro and trade DRobinson + Jovic + Draft pick for Rozier.
Rozier, Herro, Butler, Martin, Bam
Lowry, Richardson, Martin, Highsmith, Bryant, ORob, Jaquez, Love, Cain, ?
I rather do the second one and have Martin be 6th man, with either love or Bryant as starting pf.
Rozier over Herro?
Help me get there... I just don't see it.
I'm with you Sunday Afternoon. Herro is way better than Rozier. I'm fine trading him for Dame or Mitchell. GTFOH with Rozier
Yup yup. Peeps have lost their mind this offseason weeks ago.

P.S. GTFOH for Dame plus Herro, plus Jovic, plus Jaquez, plus Martin, plus 3-4 picks plus Riley's left testacle. Jus sayin...
I'm guessing it's Herro, 2-3 picks, Jovic, Duncan and Lowry for Lillard and Nurkic.
I'm also going to suggest we nickname Jaquez "Jamie J"
But is Dame better than Herro PLUS Dozier?
Point guard over shooting guard.
The other option is to start Herro at PG.
is rozier an upgrade over turtle hell yes.bye ty

Judging from what I've seen from Jaquez, I rather keep him too but my guess is Portland will want our youth if more draft picks don't materialize.
I'd offer Jovic + Robinson + Herro + 2 draft picks. Final offer.
He went 2 -5 from beyond the arc, stuffing the Stat sheet with +24 also...for those wondering .
we'll find out eventually if these stats from ORob plays out well in the real games. even just half would do great already. go Heat!
Can't wait to see how it translates.
Orlando starting hot already with a dab of cain i love it 🔥
Excuse TF out of me, buuuuuut, if Miami gives up Jovic and Jaquez PLUS 3-4 first round picks, (plus Caleb or ?), isn't that like giving up 5-6 first round picks for a 33 year old who can't play one single lick of defense? Riley cannot possibly be that STUPID!!! I understand wanting to win it all, but Miami cannot take a gamble on sacrificing the next 5-6 years, or longer, for a shot at a title. FTS!

Eh, the guy who wrote that looks like he may start shaving in a year or two, right after graduating high school.
We’re the only game in town at the moment. It’s been clear that, despite what Portland and their fans believe, teams are hesitant to pay a guy $60 million at 37 years old. The Heat will be a very good team, despite what a few people here think, with or without Lillard.
Maybe since the Blazers aren't interested in Herro, they can have Jovic and Jamie and the Heat can keep Tyler
They could probably do that by moving the salaries of Lowry and Duncan. That’d be great!
everybody wins! The Blazers fans seem to want Orlando Robinson after this game, let's throw him in there too!
They essentially did that for the Shaq trade and netted a title. It’s generally worth it.
But I doubt Miami will do that and outbid themselves.
Cronin is trying his best not to work with Miami.
Where is the outcry about Harden wanting to go to LA?
I’m not sure giving up what SunMan noted would be worth it. But I agree 1000% with your last line.
Shaq could rebound and play defense.
