With hard work and game experience, Jaime Jaquez will be Miami's next PG.

What happened to Hothothoops? I can't access online.

Me neither. I had to download the Substack app and I hate not being able to access from my pc. Get your ish together, HHH! 😉

Well, I take it this place has died. I guess the powers that be couldn't get enough traction since leaving SBNation for Substack. That might be the reason they left SBNation, to begin with.

Have you found an alternate Miami Heat discussion board?

What a shame if true. I haven’t found any Heat site like HHH with the comment section and game threads. How is this possible?

Guess what! HHH is back!!

In honor of Point Justise and the Guac program, as well as keeping with tradition, I have to sign a player to a Guac training program contract. I usually wait for a preseason game or two, but a quote I read has me ready to offer. Of course the obvious choice would be Jovic, but he's up to 230-something so he clearly is already on that Guac. Let me give you the quote first.

“It was Miami or nothing for me,” Hampton said on Monday. “I’ve been down here, off and on, since the beginning of August. It was almost like [the Heat saying], ‘Come here, do what you do, work hard. We’ll make decisions and talk to your agency and see what happens.'”

Ladies and gents I give you R.J. Guacton. Not only will he make he team, on the guac program, he becomes backup PG. :P

Time to trade Butler and Lowry.

So I guess the power forward issue is good already? Coz that’s the problem last season and now it’s the pg position. It’s training camp they have time to figure this out. We hope. The future is unknown yet so hold ur complaints HFL (if you can lol) until it’s obvious we suck (if ever) then you can say “I told you so”. And we just hope that’s not gonna happen. Green teams may have improved but they’re still looking over their shoulders for the 8th seed who crashed their party last season. Still kings of the east and don’t you forget that.

Famous last words:

KD, Harden, and Irving? Nobody can beat them this season.

Embiid, Harden, Maxey? They have the East locked up.

LeBron, Davis, Rui, Westbrook, D-Lo? Top dog in the league.

Stuff happens. Hard to guess how a season plays out. Games aren’t played on paper.

I'm with you, full of doubt. I understand why but I think there is a lot of kool-ade being drunk around here, everyone trying to be nice, say the right thing, stay upbeat, remain optimistic. I understand it as we looked pretty undermanned last year and it worked out in the postseason beyond all expectations. But, even though it is close, we are more undermanned this season, minus Strus and Vincent, adding Richardson and Bryant. Vincent's abscence is the sticky wicket as noone replaced him. Even more concerning is our old guys being older. I know we still have some hope that a G leaguer will emerge, but that seems a tad too optimistic. Can't we get anyone else to realistically upgrade this roster?

1) Neither Vincent nor Strus was ever "starter material." They were both "next man up" rotation players, which is how they will be used in L.A. and Cleveland...as long as they can produce. Otherwise, Riley would have paid them to stay.

2) This year's team is deeper at all positions, except PG. However, I expect Riley to address that weakness as soon as a good trade is available. The team has several dark horses who may surprise folks. Jaquez, Jovic, ORob, Cain, Highsmith, Hampton and others.

3) The only Kool-Aid drinking going on around here is by folks who think it is easy to trade for a Lillard or Holiday without selling out Miami's future.

4) It is what it is. I'm looking forward to see how the players mesh and what Riley will do to bring it all together.

5) Hang loose. Let's see how the team looks in preseason and if a trade falls out of the sky.

Great points, particularly #3. As most understand, Portland wanted to go out of their way to not deal with the Heat. Analysts have pointed out that the Heat were willing to give as many firsts as they got plus second round picks and swaps. They still would’ve netted Ayton in that deal. As has been noted, they were asking for Bam which, obviously, would make zero sense for the Heat.

Good pointsssssss…got thrown lemons, Riles, Spo and co made lemonade and cupcakes and other pastries out of it. Coz lots of lemons been thrown at us lately even the past few seasons. Still a winning franchise baby!!!

Fair enough. I hope your right, about some surprise contribtions, wouldn't be the Heat without them, and also about bolstering the roster at PG.

Speaking of dark horses, Heat picked up Jovic's 24/25 option. I think they know they're ready to roll out another Heat lifer.

Yes to #3!

You should move on. Enough has been said and written about this non trade. It takes two to reach a deal and if one party is not interested (for whatever reasons), you can offer anything and achieve nothing.

Anyway, Blazers got a good return for Dame, they seem to be happy now. Although they treated Dame badly, in the end he seems to be happy where he is.

Dame is a great player, so obviously everybody here would love to have him in Miami, but it was probably never a realistic option. At the same time I am glad we kept our young players. Can't wait to see this team beat the odds again. My only regret is we haven't added any significant new player. Especially at the PG position. I think we should at least add an experienced veteran like Dragic or somebody else. Relying on Lowry as the only true PG is too risky.

Lowry should be a backup point guard, thats an ideal position for him right now. And Goran can serve as a reserve backup point guard.

I m not sold on Herro and JRich as playmakers. Im expecting a month or two of commite experiments and after uneven results trade for a real point guard.

Lowry shouldn't even be on the team.
